The Manchester Digital Development Agency - MDDA - is based in Manchester, UK. It works with a wide range of local, national and international partners from the government, academic, business and community sectors. Its role is to support the regeneration of the city-region through the strategic and practical work of our technology-focused projects.

It is part of Manchester City Council located within the Regeneration Division of the Chief Executive’s Department, and work with partners from the whole of Greater Manchester metropolitan area. Manchester City Council acts as the lead authority for this work on behalf of all ten of the Greater Manchester districts, which are members of the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA).

Mr Dave CARTER is Head of the Manchester Digital Development Agency (MDDA), a department of Manchester City Council.  A strong advocate of the Green IT agenda, Dave is also the lead of the recent EC awarded DEHEMS (ie. Digital Environment Home Energy Management System) Project. His role within the MDDA has seen him lead a multi-stakeholder group in the development of the bold and innovative ONE-Manchester Digital City Strategy.  Dave has 15 years experience in e-transformation of public services, leading Local Authority and pan-European projects, including Intelcities and PEPESEC (ie. the ‘Partnership Energy Planning as a tool for realising European Sustainable Energy Communities’ (PEPESEC) will support the emergence of European sustainable energy communities through increasing the use of local community planning for the efficient supply, distribution and use of Renewable Energy Sources and conventional energy, demand-side management and associated mobility).

Mr Vin SUMNER is the Founder and Managing Director of Clicks and Links Ltd. His current focus of work is on Green IT and sustainable cities, Connecting Communities, Digital Switchover and Next Generation Broadband. Through his work on the Connected Neighbourhoods, Greenshift and ONE-Manchester initiatives, Vin has developed a Green Digital Charter, focusing on approaches to encouraging cities/regions to take action on reducing harmful carbon emissions resulting from IT, and for using IT to change behaviours of households and SMEs.
