GeSI
Global e-Sustainability Initiative (BELGIUM)
GeSI fosters global and open cooperation, informs the public of its members’ voluntary actions to improve their sustainability performance, and promotes technologies that foster sustainable development. GeSI works for the extension of the influence of ICT into all aspects of socio-economic development, in order to achieve sustainable development across the globe. GeSI put in place a Climate Change Group which tries to identify the overall impact of ICT as well as initiate solutions through the development of measurement systems. In partnership with GeSI’s Secretariat, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), GeSI supports companies and institutions across the ICT industry, including manufacturers, network operators, service providers, trade associations and associate organisations connected to the industry.
GeSI will bring its input in the working group concerning transport, valorising its experience in evaluation of the different video teleconferencing options on the market and investigating other ways to utilize communication tools to avoid travel. Its members will have the opportunity to present their achievements and developments and identify potential areas of innovation in their specific fields.
