ENEA is a public agency operating in the fields of energy, environment and new technologies. It has set up several projects aimed at addressing some of the major issues in the fields of energy and the environment: clean energy – distributed and renewable sources, clean carbon, bio fuels, thermo-dynamic solar; energy, environment and territory: sustainable use of the energy and related management of the territory, energy efficiency and eco-building, sustainable mobility and transport, governance and security of large-scale technology and energy infrastructures; emerging technologies: latest generation solar cells, new materials for energy sector, hydrogen and fuel cells, nuclear fusion, superconductivity. ENEA is also part of the expert and government representative group, convened by the IST Unit "ICT for Sustainable Development" last June 14th, on the very topic of ICT for Energy Efficency, and is also lead partner of a proposal for establishment of a policy group to foster research project and support policies at the European and national level.

ENEA will bring its experience in the development of sustainable transport and mobility in urban and metropolitan areas and rationalisation of long-distance goods transit through the development of intermodal transport. It will assist the others with knowledge about the promotion of pilot projects aimed at improving the sustainability of the transport system, the creation of a new generation of remote systems based on predictive online models, using telematic and IT systems for traffic control and long journeys, innovation of the materials used for transport, quantification and management of the impact of transport on the environment. It will belong to the steering committee.

Mr Alberto MORO works for the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Environment. He will share his view on the principle of energy efficiency in Italy.
